We are pleased to announce that the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) approved all three Sonoma County Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs): Santa Rosa Plain, Sonoma Valley, and Petaluma Valley. The GSPs were developed by each of the respective Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs) with significant input from stakeholder-based Advisory Committees and GSA Boards. M&A supported the technical team led by Sonoma Water’s Marcus Trotta in the development of all three GSPs, primarily on groundwater modeling and development of sustainable management criteria.
M&A staff worked closely with Sonoma Water staff to help develop these GSPs to meet the requirements of the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act.
Lisa Porta, P.E., Senior Water Resources Engineer and California Water Strategy Lead, said, “The integration of robust technical analysis with very engaged stakeholders and advisory committees has culminated in GSPs that are ready for implementation. Congratulations to Sonoma Water, the GSAs, and all involved in their hard work to develop these excellent roadmaps to sustainability.”
