The Water Education Foundation is organizing a new Arizona Water Resources Tour on February 16, 17, and 18, 2011.
The tour showcases Colorado River water use in Arizona. It is designed to educate decision makers and others about the challenges of managing water resources in Arizona. Participants will learn how agencies are addressing drought, groundwater management, surface water distribution, and conservation in the face of demands for communities and the environment. They will also visit important water sites and hear a balance of viewpoints on Arizona water policy.
Water policy issues have become especially salient in the Lower Colorado Basin, where an 11-year drought may soon force a shortage declaration for Lake Mead.
M&A is a major sponsor of this tour, along with the Bureau of Reclamation, CAP, and SRP. M&A tracks Colorado Basin issues as part of its Arizona Water Policy Monitoring & Reporting Service.
