The Association of California Water Agencies (ACWA) recently published an information sheet highlighting success stories of Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Implementation. The information sheet features stories of local agencies that have successfully implemented SGMA and enhanced local groundwater management. These agencies prepared and are actively implementing Groundwater Sustainability Plans (GSPs) designed to achieve or maintain existing sustainable conditions or in accordance with SGMA requirements. M&A is proud to have worked on 3 of the 4 featured success stories: Petaluma Valley, Sonoma Valley, and Santa Rosa Plain Groundwater Basins; Kaweah Groundwater Basin; and Pajaro Valley Groundwater Basin.

SGMA success has been achieved through a shared commitment by Groundwater Sustainability Agencies (GSAs), M&A staff, and stakeholders to work cooperatively throughout the rigorous planning and implementation process. M&A continues to develop technical content and provide policy strategy to other California GSAs in their efforts to protect and use groundwater resources.
