M&A’s annual holiday tradition of helping needy families continues despite the restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic. Every December, employees in the Tucson office donate non-perishable food items to fill 24 boxes for our next-door neighbor, Holaway Elementary School. This year’s collection began in the usual way, and then M&A and school officials agreed that giving gift cards would be safer than our traditional food box donations. The food that was already purchased was promptly donated to the food bank, and M&A employees contributed a total of $1,218. The company rounded up the donation amount to $2,400, allowing us to give $100 Walmart gift cards to 24 families.
Leilani Bew, hydrochemist, spearheads this worthy cause at a school where more than 50% of families qualify for food stamps. In an email message to staff, Leilani said, “Thanks to your generosity, we have helped 24 families have a brighter holiday.”
