Bill DeBoer, P.G., C.Hg., senior hydrogeologist in M&A’s Oakland and Sacramento offices, has recently been appointed to the California Department of Water Resources (DWR) Bulletin 74 Technical Advisory Committee. DWR Bulletin 74 on California Well Standards sets the minimum standards for water, monitoring, cathodic protection, and geothermal heat exchange wells, with the purpose of protecting California’s groundwater quality. Committee members represent a wide range of stakeholders and will convene from March 2021 to March 2022 to guide an update of the standards for the first time since 1991. Upon completion of the updated Bulletin 74, DWR will submit it to the State Water Resources Control Board for adoption into a Statewide Model Well Ordinance.

Bill will also serve on the committee’s focus groups for Water Well Siting and Design, Water Wells, and Monitoring Wells.
