Each year, M&A sponsors the Montgomery Prize — a $2,000 cash award — for the best oral presentation at GeoDaze, a student-run symposium organized each year by the Department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona. Now in its 23rd year, GeoDaze was established to give students in the geosciences an opportunity to showcase their research and receive valuable feedback from faculty, alumni, and peers. This year’s event was held from April 9–11. To learn more about tis year’s event, click here.
This year’s Montgomery Prize winner was Devon Orme for her presentation, “Zircon (U-Th)/He Age-eU Correlations Reveal Thermal History of Laurentian Basement Over Past 1.3 Billion Years.” Devon is a PhD candidate at the Department of Geosciences. Here research interests include sedimentology and stratigraphy, basin analysis, low-temperature thermochronology, and convergent margins. She is scheduled to present her talk at the M&A Tucson office in May.
