A recent graduate of the master’s program in Hydrology & Water Resources at the University of Arizona, Clare Stielstra is the newest addition to M&A’s Tucson team. She won the 2012 Montgomery Prize at El Dia del Agua for her presentation on quantifying the role of hydrologic variability in soil carbon flux, the topic of her thesis. While attending the University of Arizona, she worked as a research assistant, field technician, and laboratory technician.
Clare spent nearly a year studying abroad at the Universidad Latina de Costa Rica, in San José, Costa Rica, in 2003 and 2004. She speaks Spanish fluently.
In addition to the Montgomery Prize, Clare has received numerous other grants, awards, and scholarships, including a research grant from the National Science Foundation’s Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) program in 2006.
