Cameron Tana, P.E.

Principal Groundwater Hydrologist
California Operations Manager

Areas of Specialization

3D Groundwater Flow and Transport Models

Groundwater Basin Management

Estuarine Hydrodynamics Models

Cameron’s focus is assisting public agencies in California manage their groundwater resources. Cameron uses analytical tools and numerical models to address his clients’ challenges and is particularly adept at selecting and implementing the analytical tools best suited to address specific ground- and surface-water issues. He is experienced at communicating technical findings to advance groundwater management, taking into account legal, economic, and political challenges. He has a wide variety of experience in groundwater basin management and has been at the forefront of Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) implementation.

Cameron is an expert groundwater modeler and has given talks on inverse methods for calibrating numerical models.  His experience includes finite difference and finite element flow models, associated packages for stream-aquifer interaction, vadose zone models transport models, density dependent models, and particle tracking.

Cameron is a registered civil engineer in California. He is vice chair of the Water Resources Division of the American Water Well Association’s California-Nevada section. Cameron was co-founder and Vice President of HydroMetrics WRI, which was acquired by Montgomery & Associates in 2018.
