M&A expert Meja Pereira  will be a featured speaker at the upcoming symposium Ley del Río Colorado: La Visión desde la Cuenca Baja on November 4, 2025. She and Brittany Johnson of Somach Simmons & Dunn will open the conference with “Setting the Table: Where Are We in Colorado River Hydrology and Law of the River?” Their talk will include data, analysis, and various legal interpretations of the Colorado River Compact.

Mekha is a groundwater hydrologist whose expertise includes Arizona and the Colorado River Basin water policy, water portfolio planning, and remedial investigations for environmental sites. Brittany Johnson is a shareholder at Somach Simmons & Dunn, a law firm representing Central Arizona Water Conservation District in litigation and other matters. M&A serves as technical consultant to Somach Simmons & Dunn and Central Arizona Water Conservation District.

Mekha and Brittany are also co-authoring a paper based on their talk to be published in the Arizona State Law Journal.

Hosted by the Sandra Day O’Connor College of Law at Arizona State University in Tempe, the Law of the Colorado River symposium brings together leading voices from legal, academic, policy, and historical communities to discuss the complex network of laws, agreements, policies, and contracts that govern the Colorado River.
