On September 10, 2019, Daniel Weber, P.G., senior hydrogeologist and Denver operations manager, served as a co-speaker and contributing author in an hour-long webcast event sponsored by the Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration (SME). The webcast was titled “A New Rapid Brine Release Extraction Method” and focused on its application for mineral resource estimation of lithium brine deposits. The webcast expanded on a presentation given at the SME annual meeting earlier this year by co-speakers and lead authors Mike Milczarek and Mike Yao of GeoSystems Analysis Inc., and co-speaker and contributing author Murray Brooker of Hydrominex Geoscience.
Dan and his fellow speakers discussed “a new rapid brine release test based on a modified standard method to determine specific yield characteristics of core samples collected during exploration drilling. This method has been used to determine specific yield characteristics on hundreds of samples from several different brine deposits in North and South America,” according to SME’s webpage promoting the webcast.
The webcast’s audience consisted of paid registrants through SME. Information about viewing a recorded copy is not yet available.
