Esta beca brinda a los estudiantes la oportunidad de adquirir experiencia pr\u00e1ctica y exponerse a muchas facetas de la industria de los recursos h\u00eddricos. Los empleadores participantes suelen incluir agencias gubernamentales, empresas de consultor\u00eda, tribus y proveedores de agua municipales. Como parte de nuestro compromiso continuo de apoyar a la comunidad hidrol\u00f3gica, M&amp;A ha estado participando en este programa desde su lanzamiento hace m\u00e1s de 20 a\u00f1os; de hecho, contratamos a dos pasantes de AHS despu\u00e9s de su servicio, incluida Marla Odom, la primera en recibir este premio.<\/p>\n<p>En 2016 recibimos a Mekha Pereira, estudiante del Departamento de Hidrolog\u00eda y Recursos H\u00eddricos de la UA, donde est\u00e1 realizando una doble especializaci\u00f3n en hidrolog\u00eda ambiental\/recursos h\u00eddricos y matem\u00e1ticas aplicadas, con especializaci\u00f3n en econom\u00eda. Mekha est\u00e1 en camino de completar su BS en mayo de 2017; tiene previsto trabajar unos a\u00f1os y luego volver a la UA para hacer el m\u00e1ster, aunque ya ha empezado a cursar estudios de posgrado.<\/p>\n<p>Mekha pas\u00f3 alrededor de un mes en M&amp;A trabajando con Gary Woodard, una combinaci\u00f3n particularmente buena dada su experiencia en matem\u00e1ticas y la especializaci\u00f3n de Woodard en an\u00e1lisis y pron\u00f3stico de la demanda de agua. Mekha brind\u00f3 apoyo para varios proyectos que est\u00e1 liderando Gary; este trabajo incluy\u00f3 el desglose de los costos de los usos de agua en interiores, la verificaci\u00f3n de la eficiencia de las lavadoras de ropa comerciales con tecnolog\u00eda de perlas, el examen de las tendencias en la eliminaci\u00f3n de piscinas y la demanda de agua, y la gesti\u00f3n de grandes cantidades de datos del condado.
