El EIA se inici\u00f3 en 2009 luego de una propuesta del Secretario del Interior Ken Salazar para retirar casi 1 mill\u00f3n de acres de la operaci\u00f3n de la Ley de Miner\u00eda de 1872, prohibiendo efectivamente el procesamiento de nuevos reclamos. Esta propuesta aborda las preocupaciones sobre los impactos potenciales en la cuenca del Gran Ca\u00f1\u00f3n asociados con un aumento anticipado en la extracci\u00f3n de dep\u00f3sitos de uranio de alto grado ubicados en tierras de BLM y del Servicio Forestal. M&amp;A se desempe\u00f1a como consultor de recursos h\u00eddricos en un equipo interdisciplinario encabezado por SWCA y administrado por BLM. Para el Borrador de EIS, proyectamos los impactos potenciales a los recursos de agua y suelo asociados con la extracci\u00f3n de uranio razonablemente previsible durante los pr\u00f3ximos 20 a\u00f1os bajo una alternativa de \u201cno acci\u00f3n\u201d, una alternativa de \u201cacci\u00f3n propuesta\u201d y dos alternativas de retiro parcial. Adem\u00e1s de brindar experiencia t\u00e9cnica, ayudamos a desarrollar las alternativas y participamos en la reuni\u00f3n p\u00fablica y el proceso de comentarios. Nuestro trabajo en el Borrador de la EIS no solo representa la caracterizaci\u00f3n m\u00e1s actualizada y completa de estos recursos disponibles, sino que tambi\u00e9n proporciona una base para que las agencias colaboradoras seleccionen una alternativa.
