Este premio anual reconoce los logros de los estudiantes en el \u00e1rea de presentaci\u00f3n oral de la investigaci\u00f3n. Los ganadores reciben un premio en efectivo de $1,000. El Premio Montgomery representa nuestro compromiso de promover la excelencia en la investigaci\u00f3n y la comunicaci\u00f3n en las geociencias.<\/p>\n<h2>El D\u00eda del Agua<\/h2>\n<p>El ganador del Premio Montgomery de este a\u00f1o elegido en el simposio El D\u00eda del Agua fue Joseph R. Gustafson, candidato a maestr\u00eda en el Departamento de Hidrolog\u00eda y Recursos H\u00eddricos de la Universidad de Arizona. Lizz Leon Mora de M&amp;A entreg\u00f3 el premio a Joseph por su destacada presentaci\u00f3n, &quot;Cuantificaci\u00f3n de variaciones de SWE, qu\u00edmica e is\u00f3topos de agua en una capa de nieve montana: Reserva Nacional Valles Caldera, NM&quot;. Joseph intent\u00f3 cuantificar c\u00f3mo la vegetaci\u00f3n, el aspecto y la trayectoria de las tormentas controlan los patrones espaciales y temporales en la qu\u00edmica de la nieve y los is\u00f3topos del agua. <a href=\"\/wp-content\/uploads\/2016\/10\/2008_diaAguaGustafson.pdf\" data-no-translation=\"\">Click here to download Joseph\u2019s abstract<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>2008 marca el 18\u00ba El D\u00eda del Agua Anual, patrocinado cada a\u00f1o por el Departamento de Hidrolog\u00eda y Recursos H\u00eddricos. El evento de 1 d\u00eda muestra la investigaci\u00f3n y presenta presentaciones orales y de carteles. Celebrado el 6 de marzo de 2008, el simposio cont\u00f3 con una gran asistencia tanto de estudiantes como de miembros de la comunidad hidrol\u00f3gica profesional en general.<\/p>\n<h2>geodaze<\/h2>\n<p>En GeoDaze 2008, el Premio Montgomery fue otorgado a Geosciences Ph.D. candidato Andy Frassetto por su excelente presentaci\u00f3n, &quot;Flowing Asthenosphere and a Slab Window under the Coast Mountain Batholith, British Columbia&quot;. La investigaci\u00f3n de Andy involucr\u00f3 el uso de tres t\u00e9cnicas bien desarrolladas para analizar la divisi\u00f3n de ondas transversales en grabaciones teles\u00edsmicas de alta calidad.
