Se formaron las Agencias de Sostenibilidad de las Aguas Subterr\u00e1neas (GSA, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s) para desarrollar e implementar Planes de Sostenibilidad de las Aguas Subterr\u00e1neas (GSP, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s). Una secci\u00f3n obligatoria de un GSP son los Criterios de Gesti\u00f3n Sostenible (SMC, por sus siglas en ingl\u00e9s), que identifican los umbrales m\u00ednimos, los objetivos mensurables, los hitos intermedios y los resultados no deseados para cada indicador de sostenibilidad aplicable. Uno de los indicadores de sostenibilidad m\u00e1s desafiantes es la gesti\u00f3n de los hundimientos.<\/p>\n<p>Montgomery &amp; Associates ha preparado o ayudado a preparar planes de sustentabilidad en 20 cuencas y se ha especializado en indicadores de sustentabilidad y de gesti\u00f3n de la subsidencia. El hundimiento retardado, com\u00fanmente conocido como hundimiento residual, ocurre debido a un retraso en el equilibrio de la presi\u00f3n de poro de capas de arcilla gruesas y de baja conductividad. Es casi seguro que algunas partes del Valle de San Joaqu\u00edn seguir\u00e1n hundi\u00e9ndose durante d\u00e9cadas despu\u00e9s de que los niveles de agua subterr\u00e1nea se estabilicen debido al hundimiento residual. El hundimiento se ha acelerado en gran parte de la regi\u00f3n en las \u00faltimas dos d\u00e9cadas debido a la sobreexplotaci\u00f3n continua, en particular durante las sequ\u00edas de 2012-2015 y 2020-2022. Incluso en a\u00f1os h\u00famedos, cuando hay cierta recuperaci\u00f3n del nivel de las aguas subterr\u00e1neas, el hundimiento residual hace que la tierra siga hundi\u00e9ndose. Los datos recopilados por el Departamento de Recursos H\u00eddricos de California (DWR) muestran que el \u00e1rea alrededor de la subcuenca de Kaweah ha tenido las tasas de hundimiento m\u00e1s altas del estado desde 2015, superando ocasionalmente<br \/>\n1 pie\/a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>Para minimizar el hundimiento, las GSA de la subcuenca de Kaweah deben gestionar los niveles de agua subterr\u00e1nea debajo de la arcilla de Corcoran en funci\u00f3n de los impactos futuros estimados del hundimiento. M&amp;A estableci\u00f3 objetivos de hundimiento a trav\u00e9s de una serie de an\u00e1lisis t\u00e9cnicos que vinculan el hundimiento con los niveles de agua subterr\u00e1nea el modelo de subsidencia 1-D identifican las acciones necesarias para lograr la sostenibilidad en una variedad de escenarios futuros. Los resultados confirman que es posible lograr el nivel de agua subterr\u00e1nea y la subsidencia SMC en la subcuenca de Kaweah con acciones agresivas. Los modelos proyectan que el bombeo futuro del acu\u00edfero inferior, especialmente de pozos de suministro profundos, debe restringirse para evitar la sobreexplotaci\u00f3n en el acu\u00edfero inferior. Las GSA est\u00e1n utilizando el an\u00e1lisis para asesorar a los socios locales y regionales sobre la necesidad de desarrollar r\u00e1pidamente opciones alternativas para minimizar y desacelerar la
