The Society for Mining, Metallurgy & Exploration Inc. (SME) is holding its annual conference and expo next week, February 21–24, at the Phoenix Convention Center. This year’s theme is “logo-bigThe Future for Mining in a Data-Driven World.” Two M&A staff members will be presenting technical sessions at this event.

On Monday, February 22, Staffan Schorr will present “Using Geologic Models for Groundwater Management in Mining.” His talk will be a case study describing a workflow for developing models that not only better represent the hydrogeology of a project area but also facilitate the communication of results to stakeholders.

On Tuesday, February 23, Dan Weber will be giving a talk entitled “Lithium Enriched Brine — Not a Typical Ore Deposit,” which examines the role of hydrogeologic assessments in defining a deposit as a Mineral Reserve. He will also describe some of the special challenges associated with this unique type of mineral resource. To learn more about this topic, read Dan’s recent Hydro Note.

M&A will be exhibiting at booth #1938.

The conference is a 4-day interdisciplinary educational experience that features 3 days of technical sessions, along with field trips, short courses, and hundreds of exhibitors. To learn more, visit the conference web site.
